What will you be doing?

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the performance, career development, and growth of Data Engineers, Architects, and Team Leads, providing coaching, feedback, and guidance.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent for the Data Engineering team, ensuring a diverse and inclusive culture.
  • Assist in defining and implementing best practices, standards, and processes for data engineering, ensuring alignment with the data governance, quality, and architecture.
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Technical Leads, Product Managers/Owners, and stakeholders to understand organizational goals and assist in defining the data engineering roadmap.
  • Ensure the Data Engineering team is delivering solutions efficiently and effectively via the Agile methodology.
  • Partner with the team to ensure Data Engineering solutions are highly available, performant, and reliable.
  • Balance the delivery of data sources that solve todays problems vs. those that scale for the future.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in the Data Engineering domain, exploring new technologies, patterns, and solutions.
  • Manage escalations and shifting priorities.
  • Collaborate with other IT leaders on cross-team and departmental opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS/IS), or related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, working with complex and diverse data pipelines.
  • At least 5 years of experience directly managing and leading Data Engineering teams, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects, developing employees, and coaching up/down/across.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Engineering concepts, techniques, and best practices, such as data modeling, data quality, data governance, data security, data integration, data transformation, data warehousing, data lake, data streaming, data analytics, and data visualization.
  • Proficient in using data engineering tools and technologies, such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, relational databases (Oracle preferred), Oracle Data Integrator (or similar ETL tool), Snowflake (or another Cloud database)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Passionate about data and driven by curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
