Responsibilities:

  • Motivate and guide team in environmental health and safety, quality, fulfillment, cost, cash and employee engagement objectives.
  • Involvement in defining capital needs for responsible area.
  • Develops team leads and employees.
  • Evaluates multiple forecast and order input and overlays these against production, work orders and capacities to understand what work will be done where.
  • Devises action plans for non-conforming issues.
  • Acts as an extension to Management in their respective department .
  • Interviews potential candidates for assembly positions.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities whenever the department manager is out.
  • Ensures department is run effectively with priority on safety and quality.
  • Assigns work schedules.
  • Adheres to all EH&S responsibilities.
  • Conducts investigations on safety related accidents.
  • Ensures the quality of all products produced meets or exceeds standards.
  • Troubleshoots machine, process, product, and people issues.
  • Ensures that Daily Performance Metrics are communicated and met.
  • Participates in cross-functional team activities in the development and implementation of new processes, tools and / or equipment.
  • Conducts periodic reviews of existing tooling, fixtures, and gages.
  • Defines / implements cost effective replacements as technology requires.
  • Cultivates safety culture in area of responsibility through example and positive communication, employee involvement, recognition, and maintaining a clean and orderly work place utilizing 5S standards.
  • Creates, manages, prioritizes, and delegates work orders in an effort to meet daily production requirements.
  • Responsible for employee job training, employee performance & development, employee discipline, policies and procedures compliance, attendance and vacation schedules, labor reporting, inventory accuracy, etc.
  • Promotes employee development through effective verbal and written communications, cross-training skills, and appropriate use of teams to support problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Complete corrective actions through the use of formal problem solving on major equipment breakdown.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred


Competencies:

  • Organizational Skills - for tasks such as planning the production schedule and making sure all necessary materials and equipment are available to the production team when needed
  • Problem Solving Abilities - needs to be able to quickly assess production issues and establish the best course of action
  • Analytical Skills - must be able to spot problems within the manufacturing process quickly and take appropriate action to rectify. Also responsible for ensuring that the production team has access to all the necessary skills and equipment at the appropriate times
  • Time Management - has to ensure that their production team is working in the most time-efficient way and with the least downtime possible, to maintain production output while still maintaining staff safety and product quality
  • Decision-Making Abilities - must be able to make decisions quickly, under pressure, after careful assessment of all available information
  • Communication Skills - has to be able to clearly and concisely deliver instructions to the production team. Must also be able to deal with team-management issues quickly and effectively
