Job Summary

Nidec Motor Corporation is seeking an Experienced Project Manager (PM) to lead project activities for multiple development and cost reduction projects.

Job Description

  • Project Managers are independently responsible for the preparation, coordination, reporting and completion of approved development projects with internal and external customers.
  • The PM works directly with internal and external stakeholders to define project needs and lead a team to complete designated projects, successfully meeting all scope, resource, and schedule expectations.
  • PM requires solid understanding of project management techniques, practices, and tools that allow immediate integration into leading team efforts.
  • Assigned projects require direct supervision through all standardized process groups (Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing). The PM applies best practices and methodologies to achieve project goals, mitigate risk and control change based on individual knowledge and experience.
  • The PM will apply the standardized New Product Development Process (NPDP) to meet all requirements throughout the project lifecycles.

SUMMARY- The PM manages project communications activities including team meetings, mandatory reviews and project reports. Project reporting includes creating detailed schedules with key milestones, performing risk identification and analysis, making earned value progress assessments, providing test results and compiling lessons learned logs.

PM key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead multiple team projects and efforts simultaneously.
  • Define team roles and project goals, monitor and control the progress of projects and provide regular status reports.
  • Target priorities to meet schedules, budgets, and quality performance expectations.
  • Support team efforts and provide guidance regarding deliverables of engineering development and manufacturing processes (ex: BOM, parts and drawing creation progress, supplier selection and quotes, prototype parts and tooling, development testing and agency qualifications, Appropriation Requests and asset management, etc.).
  • Support coordination of efforts with other Product, Manufacturing, and Quality Departments at other global facilities.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan, maneuver, and accomplish project goals while remaining aligned with the company's mission and vision.
  • Promote and maintain high ethical practices and standards at all levels.

Additional Job Details

Preferred requirements:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Manufacturing or Project Management.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Project Management of engineering, manufacturing projects.
  • Group speaking and presentation experience.
  • Engineering and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with project management practices, tool and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with electric motor concepts, mechanical design, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Able to coordinate with internal and external team members, customers and suppliers across multiple cultural and linguistic boundaries.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Project, Teams and SharePoint (or similar).
  • Ready to travel domestically and internationally.
