Job Description

This position is dedicated to customer service efforts, internal and external requests, and requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position is responsible for managing the departments ticketing system, which includes categorizing tickets as they are submitted, responding to general category tickets, and/or reclassifying tickets as needed. This position is also responsible for phone customer service, both inbound and outbound phone calls. This position will also perform various back-office processing tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service- responsible for always delivering a high level of customer service, both through written and verbal communication.
    • Responsible for categorizing tickets as they are received within the departments ticketing system. Responsible for answering general category tickets and/or reclassifying tickets to appropriate team members. Ticket inquiries range from general questions, to complaints, and other issues.
    • Handles inbound and outbound calls professionally and knowledgeably, fields inbound calls with the same professionalism.
    • Maintains knowledge on various student account related aspects (due dates, payment plans, tuition, and fee rates, etc.); maintains knowledge on both federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
    • Participates in various problem-solving and decision-making activities within established parameters.
    • Demonstrates respect and inclusivity for all customers, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a responsible, and courteous working environment.
    • Promotes effective working relationships with their team members and peers to help achieve department/university goals.
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by manager.

    As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and priorities of the University of Missouri.
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8-5pm; this position is eligible for a hybrid working arrangement.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience answering emails and/or tickets in a large volume department, with the ability to demonstrate effective and concise written communication skills. Previous experience working in a high-volume call center. Two years of experience in a position with comparable knowledge and skills; preferably working in a student accounts receivable office or another student services office within higher education. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for two years of work experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.60-$19.60 per hour

Grade: GGS-007
