This opportunity is in the Claims Department.

Our Claims department oversees both high-exposure workers' compensation and liability claims. As an unbundled carrier, we work actively with third-party administrators (TPAs) and self-administered accounts to assist in guiding claims to a successful resolution. As an excess carrier, the catastrophic claims we handle keep our group challenged, but the uniqueness provides plenty of growth opportunities.

Role Description:

In the role of Loss Portfolio Transfer Claims Manager, you will be responsible for handling assigned claims from initial assignment to closure as well as provide assistance in various administrative functions associated with the LPT Workers' Compensation line of business.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a LPT Claims Manager will include:

  • Determining coverage and evaluating exposure to company
  • Establishing and updating of reserves based on department procedures. Monitoring TPA claim reserve development to confirm accuracy with probable ultimate exposure
  • Tracking and confirming accuracy of all recoveries on LPT claims including excess, second injury fund, and subrogation recoveries
  • Coordinating litigation efforts on claims to include selection of counsel and monitoring of counsel performance in accordance with department litigation guidelines
  • Direct communication with Underwriters regarding problem accounts, large losses and specific TPA problems
  • Identifying claims with reinsurance and provide initial and subsequent updates according to department procedures
  • Working with Medical Management staff and vendor partners to mitigate medical exposure

You can expect to travel on an "as needed" basis for quarterly or bi-annual TPA Stewardship meetings and LPT claim audits with completion of report per department procedures.
