Job Description
Position Title: Press Brake Operator

Wage: $26-$30/hour DOE

Shift: 1st

Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, hours may vary depending on projects including mandatory overtime and weekends/holidays

Press Brake Operator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up, operate, and maintain press brake machines to bend and shape steel components according to specified dimensions and quality standards
- Interpret engineering drawings, select appropriate tooling, and use precision controls to produce accurately formed steel parts for various applications
- Machine Setup: Set up press brake machines by installing and aligning appropriate tooling, such as punches and dies, according to engineering drawings and product specifications
- Material Preparation: Load steel sheets or components onto the press brake, ensuring proper alignment and positioning for accurate bending and shaping
- Programming: Input bending sequences, angles, and dimensions into the press brake control system, using programming software or manual input methods to create bending programs for specific parts
- Bending Operations: Operate press brake controls to bend and shape steel components according to predetermined angles, dimensions, and tolerances, monitoring machine operation for accuracy and quality
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall quality, using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure compliance with engineering specifications
- Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on press brake tooling, including cleaning, sharpening, and replacing worn or damaged components, to ensure optimal performance and quality of formed parts
- Safety Compliance: Always adhere to safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guarding, to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
- Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including material usage, production rates, and quality control data, to track performance and ensure compliance with production schedules and quality standards
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues during the bending process, taking appropriate corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain productivity

Press Brake Operator Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education; vocational training or certification in metalworking or a related field preferred
- Proven experience operating press brake machines in a steel manufacturing environment, with knowledge of bending techniques and tooling selection
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications for steel components
- Proficiency in using press brake controls and programming software to create bending programs and adjust machine settings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and inspecting formed parts to ensure compliance with dimensional tolerances and quality standards
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance tasks
- Physical stamina and dexterity to lift and move heavy steel materials, set up tooling, and operate press brake machines in a fast-paced, industrial environment
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Work in a noisy, industrial environment with exposure to heat, dust, and mechanical hazards
- May work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support continuous production operations
