The Public Relations Intern will be responsible for assisting the Public Relations team in developing and implementing communications and media relations strategies on a local, regional, and national level.

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN (20-30 hours per week; can work around class schedule)

The Public Relations intern should have knowledge of public relations/communications as well as a strong writing and editing background. The intern will support St. Louis CITY SC's Public Relations team in various capacities, including:

  • Assisting in the creation of media materials, including press releases, media alerts, fact sheets and Q&As.
  • Monitoring, tracking and analyzing media coverage and assisting with the creation of weekly and quarterly communications reports.
  • Researching industry trends, news and award opportunities.
  • Creating and pitching feature ideas to local, regional, and national media.
  • Supporting interview preparation, including creating strategic messaging and background information.
  • Writing stories for internal and external audiences.
  • Providing on-site assistance at media and club events.
  • Developing/updating media lists and influencer outreach lists.
  • Additional responsibilities, including matchday support, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intern candidates should be working towards, or recently received, an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in working in corporate communications, public relations or sports operations/management
  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations or marketing roles with specific experience in the sports, media and/or entertainment industries is a plus
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creative approaches to internal and external marketing and communications platforms
  • Must have knowledge of the local sports, entertainment and media landscape
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromising judgment and discretion to protect the
  • confidentiality/privacy of others, and company documents and records
  • Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented and have a strong sense of accountability, while exercising flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Must have strong teamwork and relationship management skills; works effectively with all personalities to support a strong culture
  • Must have the ability to compose documents in AP style using correct grammar and spelling Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee for him or her to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday, having the ability to transport 20 pounds and being able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office
  • Must be able to work a part- or full-time schedule during regular business hours for the position and have the ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, holidays, nights, and weekends, as necessary
