The Manufacturing Process Engineer will play a critical role in transforming Central Garden & Pet into a world class leader of manufacturing, performance and efficiencies. Reporting to the Division Manager, the Process Engineer (PE) is responsible to improve results in the core production processes of the manufacturing site.A PE is primarily focused on reliability, process improvements, and quality results.The PE is also a technical resource to the organization who assures the application of technical knowledge and problem solving methods to prioritized losses in the site.The PE also works to assure that technical changes are sustainable and do not negatively impact results.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Understands the core processes (technical mastery).Uses knowledge and skill concerning the mechanical and electrical systems and process transformations to improve business results
  • Actively seeks discovery of projects to improve cost, quality, and safety through application of engineering knowledge, discussion with production team, and trial work. Makes systemic change for improved results through the application of sound scientific principles and a thorough understanding of the product and work processes (technology, materials, people systems)
  • Application of methods to reduce process variation in order to reduce/eliminate the cause of defects. Establish control of operational processes through Centerlining and maintaining control through Daily Management Systems
  • Take a systemic approach to work using total quality concepts
  • Make data-based decisions
  • Make focused and permanent improvements for prioritized losses (eliminate root causes)
  • Standardize improvements through maintenance and training and development of the organization
  • Assists in training, coaching and development others
  • Communication with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Support the action plan development and execution of Central Home Brand Operational Excellence master plan, translating it into actions and activities.
  • Use of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP or other ERP platforms, data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

This is an entry level role that will be foundational in a Product Supply career at Central Garden and Pet. Specific requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management from an accredited institution (ABET, HLC, etc).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (full time or internship experience) a plus.
  • Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar manufacturing methodologies is preferred.
