Job Summary:
Are you an experienced and compassionate individual with a background in mental health and substance abuse treatment services? Join our team as a Community Support Specialist Supervisor and play a key role in providing guidance, support, and direction to our community support staff.

Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, you will assist in coordinating treatment plans, conducting assessments, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Overall providing community-based services for individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Collaborative Meetings: Engage in clinical staffing and treatment team meetings, providing valuable feedback and direction to the treatment team, fostering a collaborative approach to client care.

  • Individualized Treatment Planning: Develop treatment plans in an evolving, individualized, and creative manner, ensuring compliance with DMH/CARF regulations and addressing the unique needs of each client.

  • Efficient Coordination: Assist in screening/assessment coordination and complete all correspondence and information requests in a thorough and timely manner, maintaining efficient communication channels and documentation practices.

  • File Review and Compliance: Conduct file reviews, ensuring alignment between assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans, while initiating transition planning as needed to support client progress.

  • Community Representation: Represent the agency in community-based programs and develop ongoing community referral bases for client advocacy, promoting community engagement and support networks.

  • Supervisory Support: Assist in weekly supervisory meetings regarding individualized training plans of Community Support Specialists (CSS), ensuring ongoing professional development and documentation of progress.

  • Crisis Management: Handle crisis situations and follow up with possible investigation/incident reports, providing immediate support and intervention to ensure client safety and well-being.

  • Skills Enhancement: Assist CSS and other treatment staff in increasing group facilitation skills through training and feedback, promoting continuous skill development and enhancement.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to DMH/CARF and agency regulations, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance in all aspects of service delivery.

  • Staff Development: Assist in the interviewing, hiring, and training of new community support staff, contributing to the growth and development of the team.

  • Leadership Role: Assume CSS Supervisory role in the absence of CSS or Clinical Supervisor, providing leadership and guidance to ensure continuity of care.

  • Company Alignment: Demonstrate interest in the long-term and short-term goals and objectives of the company, aligning personal efforts with organizational priorities.

  • Comprehensive Support: Complete all job duties of a Community Support Specialist, providing comprehensive support to clients in their journey towards wellness and recovery.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Chief Executive Officer, or designee, contributing to the overall success and effectiveness of the organization.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field and at least one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in providing community support services; OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field and at least two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in providing community support services; AND

  • Demonstrated competencies in supervision and substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation through experience and/or training.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • Communicate strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all associates.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of Community Support work.

  • Monitor identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.

  • Involve all associates as appropriate to achieve goals.

  • Communicate changes within the department and/or company effectively.

  • Handle difficult personnel situations directly with appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice.

  • Champion change and manage implementation of new ideas.

  • Reinforce team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the company.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of case management and rehabilitation methods, principles, and techniques.

  • Extensive knowledge of program policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Detailed knowledge of problems encountered by individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders and available community resources.

  • Familiarity with treatment methods, legal requirements, and court procedures related to mental health and substance abuse.

  • Some knowledge of supervisory and training techniques used in mental health settings.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to develop, coordinate, and evaluate services within assigned program responsibilities.
