EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

Springfield, Missouri

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Employment Specialist to join our team in Springfield, Missouri. As an Employment Specialist, you will work with individuals with disabilities to help them find and maintain employment that matches their skills and interests. You will collaborate with clients, employers, and other professionals to create job opportunities, provide job coaching, and offer ongoing support to ensure clients' success in their chosen careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized employment plans for clients based on their strengths, weaknesses, and career goals
  • Build relationships with local employers to create job opportunities for clients
  • Provide job coaching and support to help clients succeed in their roles
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists and job coaches, to ensure clients receive the support they need
  • Keep track of client progress and report back to supervisors
  • Maintain flexibility in work availability, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate clients' schedules
  • Utilize knowledge of local labor market trends and employment resources to benefit clients
  • Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills when working with clients, employers, and other professionals
  • Use proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite, to manage client data and communicate with colleagues
  • Drive clients to job interviews and work sites as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • One year of experience providing employment services
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for helping individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals
  • Ability to pass a background check, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check
  • Must provide evidence of being free of infectious and contagious disease, such as TB, prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter. - expected for all direct care staff, but mandatory for RCF staff.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be performed in clients' homes and communities, with some travel required to access resources and attend meetings
  • Will be exposed to a variety of environments, including private homes, public spaces, and outdoor settings
  • Must be able to work varying shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
