Job Description:
- The Senior GIS Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, build, automation, support, security, management, and optimization of GIS systems, such as such as ESRI ArcGIS Software Suites, ESRI Portal for ArcGIS, and supporting software)
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging technologies and technical strategy, and advise the business where improvements are deemed necessary.
- Design verification procedures to ensure reliability of newly installed or upgraded systems.
- Research, guide, and perform implementation of best practices for systems over which this position has been designated lead.
- Manage internal projects of new implementation and software system upgrades.
- Document and provide training for Junior and Mid-level team members for new and existing solutions.
- Mentor Junior and Mid-level team members to ensure skills transfer for systems under this position’s oversight.
- Provide reporting for systems over which this position has been designated lead.
- Serve as final tier of internal support escalation for ISB hosted GIS Systems.
- Ensure geospatial data meets business area requirements.
- Identify datasets to be collected to support business processes.
- Ensure GIS data meets industry standards and follows best practices.
- Coordinate IGI&S related contract and data acquisition efforts with the IGI&S Manager.
- Establish standards, review, and validate all relevant GIS metadata, including the abstract and attribution. • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all matters regarding the GIS applications hosted or supported by ISB.
- Capable of architecting and designing the system architecture for GIS applications hosted or supported by ISB.
- Software and systems support in analyzing, troubleshooting, testing, and making recommendations related to systems environment.
- Provide for Incident Response and Problem Management including root cause of system problems, such as configuration issues resulting in operational performance. degradation or system outages, supporting the local manager with information and advice on the necessary corrective actions and/or interim workarounds.
- At the GIS Specialist level, required experience for the requisite GIS Systems and/or associated software are: o ESRI ArcGIS .
- 7+ Years’ Experience Utilizing or Supporting ESRI ArcGIS o ESRI Portal for ArcGIS.
- 5+ Years’ Experience Utilizing or Supporting ESRI Portal for ArcGIS.
- Operating Systems (Windows Server).
- 5+ Years’ Experience Supporting or Administering ESRI Software on a Windows Server Platform o Internet Information Services (IIS).
- 5+ Years’ Experience Supporting or Administering ESRI Portal for ArcGIS on IIS o Citrix Xen Desktop.
- 3+ Years’ Experience Supporting or Administering Supporting ESRI ArcGIS in a Citrix Environment Security Clearance Requirement: Secret Certification Requirement: CompTIA Security.
