Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Missouri, St. Louis invites applications for a position as Assistant Teaching Professor (renewable, promotion eligible non-tenure track) to begin August 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. Dynamic teaching is a high priority. We welcome applications in any areas, but have special teaching needs in introductory courses that satisfy general education requirements and courses in History of Philosophy (Western and Nonwestern) at the upper-level undergraduate and graduate-level. We also welcome candidates who are willing to develop and teach courses in the Philosophy of Information and/or Emerging Technologies.

The standard teaching load for the position will be eight courses per year, with usual non-teaching duties expected, including willingness to be involved with undergraduate and graduate student organizations and to serve on MA Thesis committees. The position has no publication expectations. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Qualifications

* A Ph.D. in Philosophy as of August, 2024 is required.

Candidates will be evaluated on a record of effective teaching and supporting the success of students from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
