THERAPEUTIC SPECIALIST - YOUTH RESIDENTIAL

$15/hour

PRN (as needed)

Burrell's Youth Residential Services immerse at-risk youth ages 8-17 in evidenced-based best practices offered in a natural home and school setting. By coordinating targeted therapeutic programs and the normalcy of home and school environments, we are able to help youth develop trust, build self-esteem, and actively participate in their behavioral health treatment.

What you'll get to do:

  • Participate as an active member of the treatment team by facilitating interactions that will ensure the home is a safe haven for therapeutic transformation
  • Continuously assess and positively support the young person's perception of safety, feelings of significance, feelings of being respected and related to others, as well as providing direct and indirect supervision of all assigned young people in the home.
  • Provide direct care and supervision to youth residents ages 8-17 with persistent mental illnesses.
  • Provide youth residents with therapeutic activities while ensuring their safety.
  • Work with a team of residents on their daily program, specific interventions and adjustments to the milieu, including homework, chores, recreation, social skills, daily living skills, individualized weekly and treatment plan goals.
  • Facilitate house meetings with assigned team, sharing feedback and communicating positive expectations.
  • Facilitate one specialized group (social skills, relaxation, recreation, craft, life skill, etc.) each week, as requested.
  • Dispense medications to residents (per physician's orders) as requested and training permits.
  • Monitor and chart resident activity and treatment progress daily (i.e., shift notes, logs, incident reports, behavior tracking, treatment plans, etc.)


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Direct care experience with youth preferred, but not required
  • Acceptable recent driving record
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Where you'll be working:

  • You'll be working in a secured youth residential treatment facility.
