Environmental Restoration, LLC is currently seeking a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with an environmental background for the position of Western Region Health & Safety Manager. This position will perform a broad range of safety compliance support and monitoring. Experience with remediation and Superfund projects is a plus as most responsibilities include assessment and support of environmental remediation and emergency response projects. Applicant must have solid communication, writing and scheduling skills and must be able to effectively budget time and resources. Successful applicant will interact directly with operational management and staff, as well as client representatives and subcontractors. Duties will include Health and Safety Plan (HASP) development, implementation and oversight, incident and analysis support, and overall safety management of the various projects. Extensive travel is likely, and work may be performed remotely at project sites throughout the western United States.
Key Responsibilities
Specific Functions:
Safety management of environmental field work; Coordinate with Corporate H&S resources and implement corporate and client H&S initiatives and procedures,
Remain current with developments in and interpretation of OSHA regulations and standards,
Provide project health and safety support,
Develop, implement, and manage industrial hygiene programs, including but not limited to hearing conservation, respiratory protection, heat illness prevention, ergonomics (industrial and office), and manual materials handling,
Develop HASP and AHA, amend and modify as necessary,
Identify health and safety issues and successfully resolve using effective communication and positive reinforcement/persuasion,
Preparation or review of safety data/reports,
Perform Safety audits of site operations,
Coordinate and conduct hygiene assessments to determine hazardous exposures and the effectiveness of existing control measures (inhalation, noise, illumination, radiation)
Calibrate, maintain, and operate and a variety of sampling and monitoring equipment,
Analyze IH data and prepare accurate and complete technical reports of findings,
Conduct hazard assessments and determines personal protective equipment (PPE) needs.
Evaluate and control environmental exposures for operations on an active Superfund site,
Develop and conducts safety training.
Role Requirements
Education, Experience & Proficiencies:
Minimum Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in science (chemistry, physics, biology, or other science discipline) or engineering
5-10 years of environmental hazardous waste, construction, industrial and/or consulting experience, as an occupational safety and health professional or industrial hygienist,
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients,
Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness,
Strong technical and problem-solving skills,
A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs,
Superior task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and follow-up,
OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER trained,
OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety and Health trained,
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship,
Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
