Interviews will be conducted by a screening committee.

Minimal Qualifications:
Master’s degree in any field with at least 18 GCH in Animal Science, Plant Science, or Agribusiness emphasis degree or a qualifying field,

OR

A bachelor’s degree in Equestrian Studies, Landscape Design, Turf Management, or Greenhouse Management degree/certificate courses.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  •  Experience working in your qualified field
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Familiarity and willingness to employ current pedagogical, instructional, and assessment methods in teaching college students
  • Coursework, teaching experience, or other demonstrated familiarity with technology in the classroom
  • Evidence of teamwork and collaborative efforts

Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.

Compensation Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Brief Description of Duties:
Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of instruction and management of assigned classes. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling the Metropolitan Community College mission, vision, values, strategic plan, Board of Trustees’ charges and educational philosophy, and primary goal of providing a quality education for all students attending the college. The full-time faculty position for the Agriculture (AGRI) program will be responsible for teaching courses in the discipline of Agriculture which includes the specific AGRI classes which count toward the degrees of Agribusiness, Animal Science and Plant Science.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
  1. Teach AGRI courses as required.
  2. Coordinate the schedule for AGRI courses for the district.
  3. Participate in activities for marketing the program and recruitment of students into the Agriculture program.
  4. Develop and maintain an innovative curriculum in Agriculture that meets the workforce standards for careers in this field as well as prepares students for any transfer programs in Agriculture at the University level.
  5. Submit all AGRI program reviews and other reports as required by the District or the state.
  6. Establish and maintain an Advisory Committee for the program. Solicit input from the members for the advancement of the program.
  7. Provide leadership to faculty in the development and maintenance of courses to support the curriculum.
  8. Advise students within the AGRI program regarding academic and career planning.
  9. Preview and select appropriate text, media, and computer instruction programs for the Agriculture Curriculum.
  10. Maintain any laboratory equipment inventory and supplies.
  11. Work with other College departments as needed to promote student success.
  12. Maintain program records and accreditation status.
  13. Serve as the liaison and onboarding support for any new faculty in the discipline.
  14. Continually monitor and evaluate the accomplishments of students, staff, and the Advisory Committee at the end of each academic year.
  15. Identify and submit funding proposals for Perkins and Enhancement grants.
  16. Develop and maintain budget for the program.
  17. Keep abreast of developments in the field for continuing a model program.
  18. Serve on other college committees and carry out special projects assigned by the Dean of Instruction, the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services, the Campus President and or the Vice Chancellor of Instruction.
Special Requirements:
• Knowledge of the agriculture industry/community/agencies and other resources.
• Knowledge of instructional methods and techniques;
• Knowledge of program development, planning, and administration principles and practices;
• Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, and/or standards;
• Knowledge of policy and procedure development practices;

• Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Preferred Areas of Expertise:
  • AGRI classes which count toward the degrees of Agribusiness, Animal Science and Plant Science.
  • Two years teaching experience 
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Awareness of the community college mission 
  • Experience teaching distance education courses
