The University of Missouri School of Music invites applications for a full-time recording engineer. This role offers an opportunity to join a dynamic team in a state-of-the-art music facility, fostering innovation and excellence in music technology and recording engineering education. We are seeking a highly accomplished candidate with professional experience in one or more of the following areas: music/audio production and engineering; live sound engineering; microphone techniques; acoustics; recording consoles; Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs); mixing and editing; mastering; and sound design.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in capturing and producing high-quality audio recordings of music performances, rehearsals, and related events encompassing a wide range of responsibilities and may include the following tasks:
• Recording live performances and sound reinforcement;
• Studio recording;
• Signal flow management;
• Hardware placement, management, and maintenance;
• Mixing and post-production;
• Mastering audio data files;
• Archiving and documentation; and
• Technical support.
The successful candidate will collaborate with our faculty and staff to oversee and maintain the School of Music’s cutting-edge recording and production studios. Additionally, they
may also teach coursework based on their strengths and school needs, which may include music technology, audio production, and related courses, as well as student mentoring and advising. Moreover, the successful candidate will maintain an active profile as a recording engineer and industry professional. The ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners is expected.
